All Bottled Up
There's so much to talk about, so much just wanting to spill out of me. I don't know where to start.
Let's talk politics :).
It's not easy for someone my age to talk politics. At school, other kids don't care too much about politics. They don't know the issues, and even if they do know about them, they aren't educated about them. The thing I hate most is talking to a person who thinks they can talk about something they know nothing about. I can't talk to my parents very much about it either, because they have differing political beliefs, and I don't think they would find it that pleasing to see that their child is making big decisions by himself. My parents are long-time conservatives, my dad is in the NRA, and my grandparents are also conservative. I like to call myself Libertarian.
To start with, I don't like any of the main candidates, Clinton through McCain.
I go to a Catholic high school and every Friday in our 'religion' classes, we allowed to talk about whatever is on our mind. My teacher is an Obama freak. So in regard to the recent comments that have been made by Obama's pastor, I asked her opinions on it. The first thing she says is... what about it? I didn't hear anything about it. A couple of fellow students also speak up and ask her about what they heard, because apparently, for once, I was not the only one who found it disturbing (at the very least). Immediately, she remembers, and says one of the most uneducated things I have ever heard. It went a little something like this: "Well, I haven't actually heard what he said, but what I think is that his pastor must have been paid out by a Clinton supporter so that it would hurt Obama. I mean, if you look at the recent polls, Hillary has been coming back..."
I didn't know what to say.
For some reason, that only fueled my anger for the uneducated person that thinks they can talk about something they haven't even heard or learned for themselves. I wonder why.
The funny thing was, is that A LOT of students actually agreed with her. It's amazing! Whatever she says is law to many of her students (she is probably the teacher with most influence in our school, because of her motherly, protective attitude toward all her students). Students that no longer have her in a class come to see her all the time. And she is a nice woman, and I like her very much. But some people enjoy avoiding reality.
